The networked hardening shop – Part II

Hiller Gerald - ECM GmbH (Germany)

In the last 10-15 years, the trend is that the investment value of a heat treatment plant has been constantly increased by automation. Whereas at the beginning of the 2000s an automatic transport trolley transported the batches to different stations, today far more complex automation solutions are in demand. In order to meet the requirements of Industry 4.0, much smarter systems are needed. ECM Technologies has taken up these requirements and challenges by outsourced its Robotics division into a separate business unit. ECM Robotics has thus been able to offer automation solutions on its own.
The author shows new automation solutions, also for the contract heat treating company that has small or medium series to harden. Today’s robotic systems are quickly and economically adapted to new components and ensure efficient operation.
For flexible, large series production ECM will show its AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) concept. The AGV’s ensure batch transport in production, camera systems can recognize components based on their geometry and ensure documentation.
These automation systems are compatible with all modular vacuum systems of the type ICBP Flex, ICBP Nano, ICBP Jumbo and ICBP DUO. The robots and AGV solutions are tailored to the customer’s needs.
