Comparison of properties of laser-hardened layers with conventional methods
The paper describes the properties of laser-hardened surfaces on selected types of steel. These are then compared with the results of hardening by conventional methods – HF induction hardening and hardening in a vacuum furnace. The microstructure, the achieved hardness and the wear resistance of the surface, measured by the pin-on-disk method, are compared.
