Methods of measurement and evaluation of residual austenite in steels, advantages/disadvantages, indication of the possibility of practical use in hardening shops. When residual austenite is formed as a result of non-compliance with the technological procedure, changes in mechanical properties and sometimes even a change in the shape of the final part might occur. Therefore, it is necessary to pay sufficient attention to the quality control and the sensitivity of selected method.
